Hu

Hua Xu, Ph.D.

Scientist/Data Analyst

Dr. Xu received her B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Science and Technology from East China Normal University and earned her Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University of Utah. Her doctoral work focused on PCB and DDT removal from sediments and soil with ozonation. After she received her Ph.D., she worked for Purdue University as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, serving as the Odor Lab Manager and the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Manager for National Air Emission Monitoring Studies (NAEMS). Dr. Xu worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the University of Utah, as well as Research and Development Direct for Wastewater Compliance Systems (WCS, Inc.). Her work focused on developing bio-domes (Poo-Gloos) to retrofit wastewater water lagoon system to remove carbonaceous, nitrogen and phosphorous compounds. She is fluent in both Chinese and English. She has unique lab skills and expertise in water chemistry and wastewater treatment chemistry and biology.
